Alberta J. Miller, age 89, of rural Portland passed away on Friday February 6, 2026 at her granddaughter's residence.  She was born in Randolph County on October 28, 1936 the daughter of Carl and Geraldine (Hensley) Gant.  She was married on August 23, 1953 to Byron Miller and he passed away on August 5, 2006.  Alberta had worked at Jay Garment and Community Care East both in Portland.  She was a 1954 Ridgeville High School graduate.  She enjoyed watching game shows and being outdoors.

Surviving is one son Randy Miller (wife Fonda) of Ridgeville, one step son Larry Miller (wife Teresa) of Ridgeville, one daughter Virginia Aspy of New Castle, Four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren and one great great grandchild

Funeral services will be Friday February 13th at 2:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Davis presiding.  Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM.  Memorials can be made to the Jay County Cancer Society.  Online condolences at www.bairdfreeman.com
